A Well-Organized Kitchen

It is safe to say we have all fallen victim to creating extensive New Year’s Resolution lists that more than likely include exercising and eating healthy. Often times, we let go of these resolutions far too soon because we tend to set an unrealistic expectation to completely shift our lifestyle overnight.

Thus, we’ve learned to start small. It takes 30 days to create a habit; one adjustment at a time will effortlessly result in an overall lifestyle change. One sure way of building better eating habits is to start organizing your kitchen.

We are happy to share some of our favorite tips on how to achieve a well-organized kitchen:

  • Only buy what you need. We have all over purchased food and ended up tossing it away before we could eat it. we’ve learned to avoid this by buying less and buying things as needed.

  • Freeze your foods! If you do happen to over buy, a lot of foods can be frozen until needed. Research shows that frozen fruits and vegetables contain higher levels of antioxidants in them. It is also more convenient to make smoothies and shakes with frozen fruits.

  • Determine your overall goals and start researching the steps for change.

  • Start with eliminating the worst item on the list. May it be soda, chips, processed meats, etc. Choose one item, and start stocking the substitute instead. Soda to juice or water, chips to fruits & veggies, processed meats to farm-raised organic with no GMO’s. Repeat this step over and over until you’ve achieved your goal.

  • Choose your food storage containers wisely. Our favorite ways to store foods are using glass as much as we can. Mason Jars are wonderful for storing fruits, vegetables, and smoothies. Glass food storage also helps to eliminate waste.

Making the necessary steps can feel overwhelming and there will be highs and lows throughout the process. Over time, those lows will not be as low as they were before. Instead of a cheat day, you may find yourself having one cheat meal. Instead of buying soda, you might opt for a sweet juice. Pretty soon, you will realize that those small changes created a big impact. With this, we look forward to making the world a prettier place, one room at a time, with wellness in mind.
