Cottage Kitchen Remodel

When presented with the opportunity to refresh this quaint cottage, our design wheels began spinning. With 700 square feet of living space, our focus was on extra clever storage ideas, space optimization, and ideal functionality. Built in 1937, the interior was quite outdated and not practical to live in, so we began the design process.

The kitchen originally had salmon pink walls, dark granite countertops, and old tile flooring that was in need of a major update. Keeping the layout as close to the original floor plan as possible, we closed off the hallway entrance to the kitchen, and added a new opening from the living room, creating a semi-great room vibe.

After various plumbing, electrical, and structural improvements, we dove into the furnishing and styling process. Clean, white walls with hues of blue throughout and brass accents made the space feel larger and brighter. We incorporated a fun accent tile for the kitchen floor that is not only easy to maintain, but adds a statement to the room. Touches of Kelly Ferm Home furniture, fine art, and accessories throughout give a feminine, yet contemporary twist to the space. Incorporating warmth through the hardwood floors and textiles created the perfect balance, and a happy Client!
